Funding Regulations Fasset Update July 2012 • The Minister of Higher Education and Training, intends to repeal SETA Grant Regulations regarding monies received by a SETA and related matters and replace them with a new set of regulations, including: • Pivotal Grant • Reduced discretionary spend • More detailed information requested on grant application form • Timing for implementation has not been specified and Fasset will continue as usual

Minister’s Imperatives Fasset Update July 2012 • The roll out of NSDS III. • Strong focus on Formal Education and Pivotal Programmes • Encouraging SETAs to work closely with FETs and Universities • The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will assist unemployed learners with post school training

Fasset’s Strategic Shift Fasset Update July 2012 • Fasset has always had a drive towards transformation and Pivotal Programmes and will align the strategic goals to the DHET imperatives through: • Pivotal Programmes • Learnership Cash Grant (LCG) • Strategic Cash Grant (SCG) • Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME) Grant • Development Projects • Transformation (Learners funded on Pivotal Programmes) • Black African learners • Black African learners with a disability

  7. What’s New at Fasset? Fasset Update July 2012 • Fasset will be launching some new and exciting initiatives: • NSFAS Grant • Employed learner or an employer representative. • Black African Learners will be relieved of the financial burden of this loan • Internship Programme Accreditation • Internships that fall into the graduate work-based category. • New Website • Improved navigation

Development Projects Fasset Update July 2012 • Designed to assist unemployed learners (NQF levels 4 – 8) and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and workplace experience • Fasset has approved 13 new projects for this year. • Details on each project can be found on the website: www.fasset.org.za • Look out for the tender for new Development Projects

Career Guidance Fasset Update July 2012 • Fasset has an intensive National Career Guidance campaign in line with NSDS III and makes use of the following platforms: • Fasset Brand Ambassadors: currently running in 9 institutions (FETs and Universities) • Print and online advertising • Exhibitions • Print and digital motivational material • Social media • Partnerships

Best Practice Awards Fasset Update July 2012 • Employers who engage in skills development best practice for their staff and their organisation. • The categories are as follows: • Large employer (150 or more employees) • Medium employer (50-149 employees) • Small employer (less than 50 employees) • Non-levy paying (NLP) employer • Deadline has been extended to 31 July 2012

Research Fasset Update July 2012 • Sector Survey: • EE Research Focus • Currently in the field • Employer participation in crucial • Other surveys: • Learner costs survey • Customer satisfaction survey • Fasset will also be conducting research for the annual Grant Analysis and the Sector Skills Plan.
