Objectives • To understand and use questions and answers. • To use structure to sing a song and produce clapping rhythms with clear patterns of repetition (the question) and contrast (the answer). • Using the song: • Teach the children the whole song. • When they know it well, you sing the questions and the children sing the answers. • When the children are confident doing this, split the children into two groups and perform the song in equal halves. • Improvising question and answer by playing a clapping game: • Have a covered basket with imaginary - or real contents - ready. • Question: What’s in the basket? • Answer: Something (soft/shiny/ hard/green/huge/enormous/beautiful/ etc) • Clap the words/syllables of the question as you say them to the first child. • Child responds by clapping an answer back. • Without pausing ask another child the question. • Child claps the answer back. • When the children are confident and can respond without hesitation try leaving out the spoken part and rely on the clapped patterns. The different choices should provide different rhythms with a clear pattern of repetition (question) and contrast (answer). SAMPLE SLIDE Random Slides From This PowerPoint Show
