Kuali Rice Implementation @ IU • Currently using Rice 0.9.1 • implemented in November 2007 • Planning an upgrade in February/March of 2010 to Kuali Rice 1.0.1 • Most of our Enterprise systems integrate with Kuali Rice (in particular KEW) in one way or another • Our team also does a lot of work with departmental application areas and eDocLite

Kuali Rice Implementations • Created Timekeeping application with SJDC using Rice 0.9.3 • Implemented custom route nodes for CSU on Rice 0.9.4 for KFS implementation (live in July) • Implemented custom route nodes for NPS KFS implementation (live in October) • Implementing custom route nodes at UofA using Rice 1.0.1 for KFS
Rice Integration • KIM/LDAP integration • Using Spring • In Production at SJDC and NPS on older branch with Rice 0.9.4 • In testing at UofA with Rice 1.0.1 (big changes) • Session tomorrow with Leo from UofA and David from SJDC • Required minor core rice fix related to hard coded admin users (patch available to use a parameter)
Rice Interest beyond KFS • Helping several other Universities switch to Rice as their standard development platform • Brown University • UCONN • RF CUNY • Illinois State • UC Merced
Kuali Rice Implementation @ Cornell • Currently using Rice 0.9.2.1 • Live in September 2008 • Planning an upgrade in February/March of 2010 to Kuali Rice 1.0.X • Just starting to integrate KEW into our enterprise applications – strategically and holistically • Have built a number of Kuali Rice KNS based applications at Cornell

Workflow / Approvals • Most new roles created via SQL • (Impl branch cannot create permissions/responsibilities) • 20 new Java roles (FP, Purap, CAM) • rSmart developed 16 roles • Majority use Parameters for Role Qualifiers • Extensive use of KIM Groups • Rework required for pCard and Research • Smooth Sailing
Future • Upgrade to KFS Release 3.0 w/ Rice 1.0.1 • Unbundle Rice (Standalone) from KFS - 2010 • KC 2.0 w/Rice 1.0 – KC Standalone – 2010 • Goal – Single Action List KFS and KC • Travel Expense System using Rice
Delta College Existing Applications • Kuali Financial System (Early Implementer) • Worked with rSmart to implement • Added new KIM Role nodes • Customized existing KFS Roles used by routing • Time and Attendance • Existing system is paper timesheets for all staff • Uses KEW Rule Template routing • Gives us a better system of approval process by managers • Allows for programmatic collection of data
Delta College Upcoming Applications • Kuali Financial System 3.0 • KSB Adapter project to allow legacy applications connection to Service Bus • Personnel Action Application • Rice 1.0.1 Application • Uses KIM based routing • Human Resources wrapper • Sold to HR Staff as a Workflow application that eliminates manual communication
