Parent Communication • Get to know the communication style of your parents. Strive to have one day response time. • Email issues (interpretation is subject to the attitude of the reader/good for information not confrontation) • A phone call is more personal. Parents will have your contact #. • Conferencing happens more than 1 day a year!
Parent/Teacher Conference • Conference Day Wednesday, September 21st 11am-7pm (hours can be flexible but only with approval) • Administrative involvement needs to be planned and disclosed to parent. • Positive/Negative/Positive (Oreo) • Documentation
Faculty Attendance • Work hours 7:30am-3:30pm except faculty meeting day. • If the need arises to leave campus during the school day you must receive permission from me or designee prior to your departure -on campus emergencies happen.
Leave • Personal Leave Forms are available in the lounge. Please complete one and give to me in as much advance notice as possible! • Robbie Hockenberry will coordinate substitutes. Her contact number is 910.583.9175 call between 6am -10pm.

Sub folder • Notice of special situations & students w/needs • Copies of all textbooks, workbooks, or supplementary materials on teacher desk with plans • Emergency flipchart near door & instructions for sub
Emergency Sub plans • Create an emergency sub folder and keep in your desk. It takes time to come up with but is invaluable if ever used. • I will ask to see this emergency folder when I do your first announced observation.
BAC/ASSH & Your Children • Safety • Management • Fairness • Your elementary age children cannot remain in your room when you are not there! • Jr. High aged children need to know the boundaries!

Discipline=Love • You are the main disciplinarian! • Do not give up your authority! • I am here to support you! • Our goal is growth and development that means it might take the entire year! • Consistent & Incremental. • Not out of anger or frustration. • Intercom the office or text me.
PreK-2nd Grading • Documentation • Work samples • No surprises -the report card should prove what you have already been communicating to parents.
3rd-8th grade Powerschool • Input grades weekly • 2 week max for major assignments/writing projects/tests • 5th-8th grade post assignments a week in advance (should match what you are posting in your room) • IT IS A GREAT TOOL IF USED CORRECTLY!
What Powerschool does not do • Explain why a student is doing poorly • Help parents know how to help their student • Update itself • Explain assignments
Student tardies/absences Special allowances for tardies happen. 8:00am tardy bell-must have pink admittance slip from the office All grades at 4th tardy-contact parent and cc me-I have to know to intervene. Jr. High-at 4th tardy assign d-hall
