  2. My Goals for the School Year • To help EVERY child grow academically, socially and emotionally. • For EVERY child to feel happy, safe and secure at school. • For EVERY child to feel valued and respected, and see themselves as an important member of the classroom community.

Units will be assigned out of order. • Monday – Pretest/Copy Words Down • Friday – Test • Spelling Bingo Cards • Given Out on Mondays • Due Fridays • 4 Activities • Stapled Together • Activity Title on Top of Paper • Stressing Neat Formation of Letters

  11. Handwriting • We Will be Practicing our Cursive All Year Long. • Students Will be Required to Use Cursive Handwriting, At Times, Throughout the Year. • Cursive Alphabet for Practice in BTSN Folder

Grammar • Grammar has been revised this year. • Includes beginning, developing and secure skills • Secure Skills • Use abbreviations correctly • Punctuate a friendly letter • Use commas in an address and for items in a series • Past, present, and future tenses • Using positive, comparative, and superlative adjectives • Identify and use irregular adjectives • Identify and use conjunctions

Homework Policy • Students will copy homework into their assignment books every morning. • Students will not receive homework on weekends and holidays. • District Policy is 40 Minutes a Night for 4th Grade • Set Up Homework Routine • All students have chosen a Homework Buddy to call to get assignments or materials.

  15. Homework Policy Continued • Students must turn homework in when they enter the door. • Student work that is dropped off at the office after school starts will be marked late. • It is my hope that this policy will help children take more responsibility for their homework and assignments.

Homework Policy Continued • I do not grade homework assignments, however, I do check all assignments for completion. • I also review homework answers with the class. • If your child forgets their homework that day they fill out a Late Homework Notice. • The Late Homework Notice must be signed and returned to school.

  17. Grading Policy • A – 100%-90% • B – 89%-80% • C – 79%-70% • D – 69%-60% • F – 59%-0%

  18. Tests • Tests or Quizzes will be Marked with a Letter Grade (A, B, C) • Will Not Place D or F on Paper • Tests Sent Home on Fridays • Please Sign and Return all Tests and Quizzes by Tuesday

  19. Class Management • I will be using a ticket system this year to help promote positive behaviors. • Individual students can earn and lose tickets based on their individual behaviors. • The class number determines how many tickets I pull out of the bin. I will pull these tickets on Friday afternoon. • This promotes teamwork and cooperation.
