  4. Markers of Toughness • Emotional Flexibility • Being able to handle the unexpected • Ability to summon positive emotions • Inflexible athletes are easily broken

  5. Markers of Toughness • Emotional Responsiveness • Remain alive, engaged, and connected under pressure • To be emotionally unresponsive is to lack toughness

  6. Markers of Toughness • Emotional Strength • Sustain fighting spirit against all odds • The inability to fight emotionally is a sign of lacking toughness

  7. Markers of Toughness • Emotional Resilincy • The ability to take a punch emotionally and bounce back quickly. • Recover from dissapointment • Get back into battle and resume the fight

  8. Toughness Is • The ability to consistently perform toward the upper range of your talent and skills regardless of competitive circumstances.

  9. Toughness • It is learned just like any other skill • It is not genetic • Anyone can learn to get tough

Toughness • Toughness allows you to bring all your talent and skill to life on demand • You may have talent and technique but without toughness you really have neither • Only through toughness can you find your real limits • Many athletes believe they are not talented enough but they are not tough enough
