DIAGNOSTICS • Is the problem: • Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electronic • Or is the problem engine related? • Poor engine performance • Low engine vacuum. Page 32
FLUID CHECK • First Check Fluid Level. • Check dip stick for type of fluid. • Any special instructions. • Vehicle Level • Normal operating temperature. Page 34
FLUID CHANGES • A transmission service should include: • Changing oil filter, • Oilpan gasket, • Adjust Bands, • Adjust TV linkage or Cable, • Check Modulator, • Adjust Manual linkage. Page 34
FLUID LEAKS • External leaks: • Front pump seal • Front pump O’ring • Cooler lines • Manual shaft seal • Speedometer driven gear and adapter • Oil pan gasket • Rear seal Page 38

MODULATOR • Modulator should hold vacuum for 1 minute with out leaking down. • No fluid should come from vacuum nipple. Page 46
Manual Linkage • The purpose of the manual linkage adjustment is to put the manual valve, shift indicator and detent in proper relationship. Page 48
