ABOUT KOÇ UNIVERSITY Founded in 1993 as a non-profit private university in Istanbul, Koç University continually strives to: • Be a center of excellence, one that provides a world-class education to its students, • Create new knowledge via the research of its faculty and apply this knowledge for the benefit of society,   • Equip its students with the highest sense of ethics,  social awareness & responsibility and good citizenship.

A LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION • Guided by the educational philosophy of “creative teaching/participatory learning,” Koç University encourages the search for truth and promotes creativity—it demands an inquiring mind, an acuity for open discussion, and involvement in extra-curricular activities. • Koç University’s liberal arts program reflects a progressive, expansive, and student-oriented approach to education, the culmination of which is the creation of high-caliber graduates who are prepared to succeed in a multitude of competitive environments. • Students receive a diverse and comprehensive education while concurrently gaining expertise in a specific academic discipline.

FACULTY • 400 faculty • 95% of all full-time faculty hold doctoral degrees from leading universities in the United States and Europe, the remaining 5% from top Turkish universities • 16 faculty members in the Turkish Academy of Sciences (out 90 total members) • Most awards for research in 2010 from the Turkish Academy of Sciences • Many of the faculty members are also the recipients of the Science and Junior Science awards of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, the most prestigious scientific awards in the country • Many research projects at Koç University are supported by The European Research Council and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey

CAMPUS FACILITIES • Main Campus located on a sprawling 62-acre estate combiningmodern outdoor facilities with sixty academic, administrative, residential and recreational buildings • Dormitory capacity of 2,200 students • Library spans over 8,000 square meters, circulates approximately 5,500 items per month and collectively holds over 300,000 resources • 370-seat Sevgi Gönül Auditorium and 310-seat Engineering Auditorium used for cultural activities and art events throughout the year • Other facilities include cafeterias, canteens, cafes, hair dresser, full-service bank, ATM machines, supermarket, dry cleaning, bookstore, post office, and 24-hour computer labs

OFF-SITE CAMPUS FACILITIES • Nişantaşı Campus: downtown campus of Koç University that houses the School of Nursing, provides residential and dining facilities, conference halls, classrooms, group study rooms, as well as a library and fitness center • Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (RCAC): located in downtown Beyoğlu, currently houses 10 pre-doctoral and 10 post-doctoral fellows from around the world; amenities include two specialized libraries, residential and dining facilities, conference rooms and exhibition halls • İstinye Campus: located near the business and financial districts of İstanbul, serves part-time students enrolled in Executive Education Programs, the Executive MBA Program, and the Master’s degree program in Finance; will be expanding to offer evening and weekend courses in such programs as Master’s of Law; offers residential facilities, conference halls, classrooms and group study rooms

14. SUPPORTED RESEARCH PROGRAMS Koç University organizes research programs for high school,undergraduate and graduate students to conduct research with Koç University Faculty Members. SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR UNDERGRADUATES This program is for motivated undergraduates from different universities who want to improve their research skills and plan to attend graduate school. The program offers the undergraduates the opportunity to gain research experience that helps them decide if they want to pursue graduate education or professional research career. POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM Koç University Postdoctoral Fellowship program supports post doctoral fellows. The program is designed to support the scholarly development of all qualified candidates who are committed to university careers. At the same time the program provides an opportunity to Koç University faculty to work with postdoctoral fellows in research areas of mutual interest.

SPORTS AND RECREATION • Semahat Arsel Spots Center is a multi-purpose indoor facility with a capacity of 2,000 spectators • Indoor sports facilities include a multi-purpose center usedfor basketball, tennis, volleyball, badminton, handball, squash and racquetball, a two-floor fitness center, an aerobics step studio and a jogging track of 156 meters • Outdoor sports facilities include an olympic-size soccer field, swimming pool, ice skating rink, tennis courts and a basketball court
