  2. Icebreaker – Serve and Celebrate Use the paper and markers on your table to draw or write about your serve and celebrate experience. Be ready to share your highlights and lowlights with your table group

  3. Goals Participants will be able to… • Revise pages 1-7 of your service-learning action plan based on knowledge gained at the conference. • Create a timeline for your project. • Create a budget and fundraising plan for your project. • Understand progress monitoring and add progress monitoring checks to your project timeline.

  4. Small group work time Review your action plan and ask yourself the following questions: • Have any of your plans changed? • What did you learn at the conference that can help you refine your action plan? • Do you have a better understanding of what you plan to accomplish? • Is there anything you can change so that you plan is clearer?

  5. Break Take a quick 5 minute break. If you would like to lead an energizing activity later in the training please let me know.

  7. Progress monitoring and creating a path As you learned with the cup pass challenge, large goals are made achievable by breaking them down into smaller parts and checking on your progress. A similar process can help you track your progress to achieving your project goals.

  8. Creating a time line (pg 8 and 9) A time line can be a helpful tool in creating progress monitoring goals. To create an initial timeline start by: • Determining the duration of your project. • Divide your project into smaller more manageable segments. • Determine what will need to be accomplished in each section. • Decide how you will tell if you met your goal.

  9. Ways to assess your success The way you measure how you’ve accomplished a goal may depend on the goal itself. Here are some examples of ways to monitor and assess your progress: Observation Written feedback Verbal feedback Checklist

  12. Creating a budget Group brainstorm – With your table group highlight some items that you might need for your project. Be sure to keep in mind supplies, equipment, publicity, marketing, professional and technical services, travel, lodging, space rental, etc.

  13. Individual planning Use page 10 to outline some of the expenses you anticipate for your project. Estimate the cost of each item and calculate your total estimated budget.

  14. How will you fundraise? Now that you have set an estimated budget its time to start thinking about how you will fund your project. Use page 11 to begin to create a fundraising plan. Vocab – leverage, in-kind, grants

  15. Other thoughts? Is there anything else on your mind? Use the space on page 12 to reflect on what we’ve done today. What stands out, what are you still concerned about?

  16. Daily reflection Think of one word that describes your day today. Be ready to share! Norms feedback. Evaluations!!!!
