  1. Health Benefits of Cinnamon Cinnamon is a tasty spice and comes with numerous medicinal properties for past many years. It has been confirmed by modern science as well. The spice is made from the inner bark of trees called Cinnamomum. In the past, it used to be rare and valuable, but you can find it in malls & supermarkets easily these days. Types of Cinnamon There are two main variants of Cinnamon that are available these days. They are: • Ceylon cinnamon which is also known as true cinnamon. • Cassia cinnamon which is more commonly available today Cinnamon is made by cutting the stems of the Cinnamomum tree. The inner bark is then extracted, and woody parts are removed from it. After drying, it forms strips and curls into rolls that are called as cinnamon sticks. Ceylon cinnamon supplements are made from these cinnamon sticks and the wood as well. Cinnamon gets its smell and flavor due to the oily pat which is very high in a compound called cinnamaldehyde. It is responsible for health effects.
