  3. Get started • Get Gmail account for important relations (loved ones, important friends, alumni association)

  4. It’s not just emails • Email, calendar, free online storage space for your documents, files, photos

Also consider getting an alternative email account • Email account from another Internet email providers, e.g. Hotmail or Yahoo, • Receive junk mail: Give out this email address to online merchants’ website account. • Help recover Gmail, in case Gmail account is breached or you need to reset password • For different purposes, e.g. professional vs. personal

  6. What NOT to do • Do not use email account provided by your phone, cable or internet service provider, e.g. Verizon.net, ATT.net, Comcast.net, Time Warner, Optimum. • You lose these account when you switch to another service provider and your friends will lose contact with you.
