My Story Why I am a Soldier….
Education Enlistment Credentials • Department of Defense mandates that 90% of our Soldiers graduate from a “traditional” brick and mortar high school • Traditional public high school • Job Corps • 15 semester-22 quarter-675 clock hours • Home schools students scoring 50 or higher on ASVAB • In 2010 63.9% of enlistees scored a 50% or higher on the ASVAB • 35.7% of enlistees scored between 31-49 on the ASVAB • .5% of enlistees scored below 31 on the ASVAB • Only 10% of our enlistees can be from Online high schools (ECOT or Digital Academies, GED, or accelerated “drop out” schools)
Educational Benefits Loan Repayment (up to $65,000) Montgomery GI Bill (up to $48,000 +) Post 9/11 GI Bill ($80, 000 +) Army College Fund (up to $34,200 MORE) Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP) Tuition Assistance ($4,500 per academic year) $161 million in Tuition Assistance in FY08; more than any other organization in the country!

Student Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB CEP) (1 of 2) • The most widely used aptitude test in the world. (639,422 tested SY 08-09) (23,450 in Ohio) • Provided to schools at no cost with all supporting materials and services. • Given by professional test administrators. • Measures the trainability of new recruits. • Is a comprehensive Career Exploration Program for schools. • Identifies students’ interests, abilities, and personal preferences. • Allows students to explore civilian / military career opportunities and work environments.
Student Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB-CEP) (2 of 2) TESTED / MEASURED • Word Knowledge • Paragraph Comprehension • Arithmetic Reasoning • Math Knowledge • General Science • Auto / Shop Information • Electronics • Mechanical Comprehension • Verbal Skills • Math Skills • Science and Technical Skills • ASVAB sub-tests that comprise the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) Score • Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge • AFQT is exclusively a measure of “Trainability” • Counselor’s Manual provided includes technical information with national norms
