2. Introduction • In 1984, 27 years ago, on the occasion of the 50th birthday of H.R.H. Prince Albert II, the Prince Albert Fund was established by the VBO/FEB and the KBS/FRB in order to promote Belgian export • The Prince Albert Fund helps talented Belgian professionals acquire experience in conducting international projects by offering financial support for a 12-month project abroad through a company established or headquartered in Belgium • After a rigorous selection, the participant receives a grant from the Fund, representing the equivalent of a one-year salary

The Concept Provide young professionals an opportunity to improve their international skills in an entrepreneurial context Provide Belgian companies an opportunity to get acquainted with, enter or grow their international business while reducing the financial risk Enhance presence of Belgian business outside Western Europe

4. Current Situation • The Prince Albert Fund (PAF) has supported more than 300 young Belgian professionals and over 150 Belgian companies over the last 20 years • 75% of the laureates continue to pursue an international career and 55% are doing so within a Belgian company • The majority of the laureates are therefore still actively involved in the promotion of Belgian services and goods abroad • Because they believe in the mission of the Fund, the Alumni take an active role in further building bridges between leading international companies and high potential young managers

Company and Project Profile • A company submitting a project needs to be based in Belgium and can have Belgian or foreign ownership. • There are no restrictions with regards to activity or size • A good project matches the following criteria: • It deals with international business development outside Western Europe • The PAF professional is entrusted with considerable decision making power • The PAF professional can explore and work out new strategies for the host company • The PAF professional is NOT a trainee within the company!

6. Trainee profile • University degree - mostly in business or engineering • In most cases, at least one year of relevant professional experience • Enterpreneurial spirit • Mature, motivated, proactive, eager to learn • Multilingual

Why work with a Prince Albert Fund professional • PAF significantly increases the chances of success and lowers the cost in international business development • PAF professional is a highly qualified professional, screened by a jury of business leaders on personality, background and dedication to international business • No need for expensive repatriation of own personnel • Total cost for company approx € 20k (consisting of retribution to PAF & accomodation/travel expensens of trainee) • Furthermore, a sponsorship allows you to observe young potential in a real business environment with a view to subsequent recruitment  Because of this cost reduction, pending export-related projects become reality by bringing in the Prince Albert Fund.
