Lesson 9-7MULTIPLYING POLYNOMIALS-FOIL METHOD BY BOOMER DOHN& KENNY MASSA
The F.O.I.L method • F~ First term • O~ Outer term • I~ inner term • L~ last term
first • First - multiply the first term in each set of parenthesis (2x+3)(4x+1)
Outer/ outside • Outside - multiply the two terms on the outside: • (2x+3)(4x+1) • Got problem from internet
Inside/ inner • Inside-multiply both of the inside term: (2x+3)(4x+1)
last • Last - multiply the last term in each set of parenthesis: • (2x+3)(4x+1) • just add like terms.
Examples • (2r-1)(5r+3) (4x-5)(12x-7)
Practice Problems 1.(7a-2)(3a-4) 2. (4m+9)(2m+7) 3.(8t+11)(6t-1) 4. (8z+3)(5z+4) 5.(y+6)(y-5)
