You Are Graduating Or Are You?
Agenda • Deadlines • Requirements for graduating • Program Evaluations • Why do you REALLY need to be here?
Meet With Your Advisor • Month of September: • Plan your final schedule for Spring 05 • Complete major and minor checklists • Make sure advisor’s signature is on checklist • If any adjustments are made to your checklists, notify Registrar’s office with signed corrections • Advisor may use program evaluation for corrections and substitutions as long as signed
Program Evaluation • Available through Web Advisor • Read thoroughly (ALL PAGES!) • Example • If you see a blank line with “1 course needed” or “_ units needed” this requirement MUST be COMPLETED • Pay special attention to upper division for major and for core
What do I do now? • Once advisor meeting is complete and evaluation or checklist is in hand and signed, bring your checkbook and a smile to THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE. • Once there pay your grad fee and fill out your application for degree • For now take a breather
When do I need to turn it all in? • PRIORITY DEADLINE!!! September 30th - $50 grad fee • After September 30th - $75 grad fee and no guarantee of receiving your audit before spring registration
So what now? • You will receive a senior audit packet in your campus box • No campus box? It will go to your home address • Inside this wonderful envelope you will find an updated evaluation, a list of all transfer courses taken, and some helpful reminders on how to read through your evaluation. • MAKE SURE TO READ THE WHOLE PACKET AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE HIGHLIGHTED PORTIONS
Why should I do this? • YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A DEGREE IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THIS PROCESS • Using your audit, allows you to register for classes that you still need, which means no surprises in the end • It also allows you to address concerns over your program evaluations • It informs you of your actual graduation date which may not be May (Could be summer, fall, or a year from now)
When bad things happen to good seniors… • When you do not check your campus box, you miss vital information about your degree and graduation • You miss deadlines which can cause higher fees and extra stress • If you ignore the “one course needed” it doesn’t go away • To truly enjoy your senior year, take care of everything early on
Who Do I Talk To? • Evaluators • Brianne Davis – A- E • Dorothy Posey – F- La • Shannon McCabe – Lb- Ree • Betty Letiero – Ref- Z • Any other Questions see Lorraine your Associate Registrar
TIMELINE • Month of September: • Meet with advisor - get major/minor checklists completed and signed • Apply for degree • Pay fee • Months of October/November • Check mail for important senior information including your audit packets • Come meet with your evaluator for any questions • Meet with advisor again for your final schedule planning session • NOVEMBER 12: • Registration begins • Check your program evaluations online to make sure that everything is complete - there should be no blank spots or missing elements • April 22: • Senior Commencement Information Meeting • Everything you need to know about graduation
