C-ITS Communication Architecture • Management • Automatic selection of CIs / communication profiles • Initial work done in ISO 24102-1 • New work item at CEN/ISO under EC mandate M/453. ISO 24102-1, EN ISO 17423 C-ITS International Harmonization
C-ITS Communication Architecture Security • Communication security: • ETSI TC ITS develops an IEEE 1609.2 profile. • ISO TC204 SWG16.7 is adopting work of ETSI TC ITS WG5. • ITS station security • To be developed at ETSI / ISO / ? IEEE 1609.2, TS 102 867 C-ITS International Harmonization
5.9 GHz ad-hoc communication Access Layer • PHY / MAC: • IEEE 1609.4 / 802.11 • ISO 21215 – reference to IEEE 802.11, ISO 21218, ISO 24102-1, ISO 24102-2 • ES 202 663 – European profile of 802.11 (to be corrected) • LLC • ISO 21215 / ISO 21218 / ISO 24102-1 / ISO 24102-2 • IEEE 1609.3 / 802.2 C-ITS International Harmonization
5.9 GHz ad-hoc communication Networking & Transport Layer • ISO 29281-2 FNTP (Fast Networking & Transport Layer Protocol – port mapper for single-hop communications), ISO 24102-1, ISO 24102-2 • TS 102 636 – GeoNetworking / BTP • Congestion control in transport layer !? – is a cross-layer issue in ITS. C-ITS International Harmonization
ITS Application Object Identifier PSID / ITS-AID Usage • To uniquely identify • an ITS Application Class (ISO 15628) • an ITS Application • an ITS Message Set (to be reconsidered! ITS-MsgSetID) • ID format (ASN.1 type) • Harmonized as presented in TS 102 860 Registration of values • One or several registration authorities • Preliminary registrations to be performed by SDOs Related open issues • As presented in informative part of TS 102 860. Further to be standardized in EN ISO 17419. IEEE 1609.12, TS 102 860, TS 102 965 C-ITS International Harmonization
ITS Application Object Identifier Preliminary registration • TS 102 965 V0.0.0. • Registration table. C-ITS International Harmonization
ITS Application Object Identifier • ITS-AID identifies ITS applications / appl. classes. • ITS-AID is an addressing element of the facilities layer / management entity which points to a specification providing all details for proper interpretation of APDUs. • In order to identify an “endpoint” in a receiver for processing of APDUs, port numbers have proven to be extremely useful. • Port numbers enable multiple instances of the same ITS application in an ITS station. • Well-known port numbers obviate the need for over-the-air-negotiation for information dissemination (of critical messages). • Consequently, it has been concluded that for session support, ITS-AID / PSID should not be used as a port number! C-ITS International Harmonization
Port numbers Usage • Dedicated to C-ITS • While different from IANA port numbers, some could be re-used! • To identify • well-known ports, e.g. for BSM, CAM, SAM • dynamically assigned ports for sessions • Port number format (ASN.1 type) • As presented in TS 102 860 (two octet INTEGER) • Variable size format to be discussed! Registration of values • One or several registration authorities • Preliminary registrations to be performed by SDOs C-ITS International Harmonization
Cooperative Awareness Message • Many simultaneous developments in SDOs and in projects. • High risk to either over-load or over-simplify CAM! • CAM should not be restricted to 5,9 GHz only! It has to be media-independent. • Harmonization with SAEJ2735 Basic Safety Message (BSM) and SPAT messages desired! • Problem of radio channel congestion! • CAM could be reconsidered as a specific DENM! • ETSI is going to upgrade TS 102 637-2 to a European Norm! EN 302 637-2, TS 101 539-1, SAE J2735 C-ITS International Harmonization
Decentralized Environmental Notification Message • Ordinary broadcast message containing event notifications. • Harmonization with SAE J2735 Basic Safety Message (BSM)and SPAT messages needed! • ETSI is going to upgrade TS 102 637-3 to a European Norm! EN 302 637-3, SAE J2735 C-ITS International Harmonization
