Step to Maturity Education System (SMES) • SMES is a utopia. • SMES establishes the foundation for the development of an educated citizen. • SMES prepares a citizen aware of other countries (Citizen of the world).
Step to Maturity Educational System (SMES) was inspired by: • Jean-Jacques Rousseau. • Man goes through five phases in their physical and mental development. SMES has four phases. • Israel Scheffler. • Teachers involvement in philosophical inquiry. • John Dewey. • Education is a social function. • Herland. • Education is the most revered aspect of society.
Step to Maturity Educational System (SMES) was inspired by: • Desiderius Erasmus. • Parents are under the obligation to provide education to their children. • Nel Noddings. • Educators’ behavior have to show what it means to care. • Maria Montessori. • Montessori learning method. • Fiefrich Frobel. • Social involvement with the family is central for the healthy development of a child.
Step to Maturity Educational System • Infant & Toddler Bonding Step (ITBS) (0 -2 years (yrs.) old). • Early Learning Step (ELS) (3 – 6 yrs. old). • Foundation Education Step (FES) (7 – 14 yrs. old). • Advanced Education Step (AES) (14 – 18 yrs. old).
Who is the Caregiver? • Every child must have a Caregiver. • Caregivers can be: • Mother. • Father. • Grandparents. • Other family members. • Adoption.
Caregiver Responsibilities • Start at birth and end when child completes SMES. • Mandated by law. • Must be with the child at all times. during the ITBS. • Original Caregiver can work during the ELS, FES, and AES. • Needs to assign a new Caregiver. • Caregiver can work as a “Nurturer” in the schools.
Funding the Caregivers • Employer – 85%. • Husband. • Grandparents. • Government subsidy.
Who are the Facilitators • A guide to knowledge and education. • Educators trained in their fields. • Their role is to open doors for students to learn and develop values, morals, and manners. • Ultimate goal – Develop great educated citizens.
Role of the Child • To have fun during early steps ITBS and ELS. • Have fun but get involved in academic subjects during the FES and AES. • Every child is different. • Every child must have the opportunity to develop his/her own goals.
Step 1 ITBS (0 – 2 yrs. old) • Herland’s concept. • ITBS educates the Caregiver and the child • Caregiver and child will attend ITBS five days every week, four hours per day • Learn healthy eating and resting habits • Development of children’s senses and motor skills (crawl, walk, run)
Step 1 ITBS (Cont.) • Facilities will be equipped with: • Resting areas for the Children and Caregivers. • Sensorial and motor skills game rooms. • Indoor and outdoor play area. • Classical music background music. • Nurse’s station in school. • Gym with a Spa for Caregivers.
Step 2 ELS(3 – 6 yrs. old) • Child and Caregiver attend the program five days per week, five hours per day. • A new Caregiver can be assigned. • Curriculum and activities very similar to the ITBS. • Play and have fun. • Very discrete teachings of behavior, morals, values, and manners .
Step 2 ELS (Cont.) • Facilities. • Similar to the ITBS. • Equipped with appropriate equipment for 3 – 6 yrs. old children.
Step 3 FES(7 – 14 yrs. old) • This is the beginning of the child’s formal education. • Until now. • Children were given the freedom to only play. • No academics. • They were taught through games and fun. activities – no academic subjects. • There are three phases in Step 3 • 7 – 9 yrs. old • 10 – 12 yrs. old • 13 – 14 yrs. old
Step 3 FES(7 – 9 yrs. old) (Cont.) • First two years (7 -9 yrs. old). • Intensive English grammar, reading, and writing. • Basic Arithmetic. • Music education. • Sports.
Step 3 FES(10 – 12 yrs. old) (Cont.) • Third through fourth years (10 – 12 yrs. old). • English grammar, writing, and reading. • Begin reading masterpieces from authors from several countries. • United States (US) History. • Continue reinforcement of Arithmetic and introduction to Mathematics.
Step 3 FES(10 – 12 yrs. old) (Cont.) • Introduction to Biology (Botany, Human Anatomy). • Introduction to a second language ( a Romance language preferred). • Music Ensembles, Arts (theater, ballet, classical music, art appreciation).
Step 3 FES(13 – 14 yrs. old) • Fifth through seventh years (13 – 14 yrs. old). • English grammar, writing, and reading. • Masterpieces from authors from several countries. • World and Social History. • More advanced Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus).
Step 3 FES(13 – 14 yrs. old) (Cont.) • Other Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy). • Introduction to a third language. • Music Ensemble, Arts (theater, ballet, classical music, art appreciation).
Step 4 FES(15 - 18 yrs. old) (Cont.) • College and vocational preparation courses. • Math, Sciences, English, Wood work, Cosmetology, Food Preparation. • Citizenship. • Projects with the community. • Financial Management. • Parenthood. • Professional and vocational shadowing programs.
Vote for SMES! • It is the society and the Caregivers duty to provide education to all their children. • Education is the foundation of our society. • Planned education develops good citizens. • Society must value Children, Caregivers, and Facilitators. • Vote for Step to Maturity Education System (SMES).
