What descriptive techniques can you identify in the following passage… The smoking fog swirled viciously, enveloping the woman in its cold clammy fingers as the glimmering flame of the streetlight illuminated her in the darkness. The shadows danced ferociously and the glimmering moon reflected her blond hair, which dazzled like diamonds. The bitter wind cut like a knife and the distant rumbling of traffic erupted like a volcano as the woman pulled her long coat around herself and shivered violently. The ground was hard beneath her feet as she stumbled forward, reaching out to steady herself on the smooth, cold steel of a deserted dustbin. She glanced nervously around, like an owl searching for sanctuary from a predator, and nervously knocked three times on the damp, decaying wood of the door. It creaked open. Cold and dusty air chocked her as it hit the back of her throat and cobwebs fluttered on her skin as she gasped in horror. With one last look behind her, she stepped forward and was swallowed by the darkness beyond.
