  3. In Service for Norway; General • Primary objective; recognition and care • Armed Forces veterans, personnel from Foreign Service and Justice sector • All phases of deployment; before, during, after • 126 tangible initiatives

  4. Intersectoral collaboration before and during operations • Interministerial WG; six ministries • Armed forces and police; PMT (Afghanistan)& UNMIK Police/KOFOR (Kosovo) • Mod & MFA: Agreement increased cooperation training etc.

  5. Intersectoral collaboration after deployment • Follow-up injured personnel; society’s ordinary health and care service and social functions • Families and next of kin • Better coordinated support system • Research and surveys

  6. The Armed Forces’veterans • 80 + initiatives; our new veteran policy • Unique service; seeking out danger and defeating an adversary • Society’s recognition and aknowledgement; special days, seremonies, medals • Bæreia

  7. Before deployment • Aiming at getting the personnel as well prepared as possible • Several initiatives • A more reasonable and even division of service – conduct an international comparative study

  8. During deployment • Meaningful service • Minimising the risk of injuries • Introducing a commander support network

  9. Returning home • «One year programme» • Shielded stop over on neutral ground; a time to adjust • «One door in» The Armed Forces Veterans Affairs

  10. Introducing annual Veteran conferences • First to take place next week; 29th – 30th November • Concentrating on the primary objectives of the Action plan • Two parts/two days: Acknowledgement and care

  11. International cooperation • NORDEFCO • Follow-up Danish initiative in NATO • Bilateral cooperation

  12. Evaluation and implementation • All initiatives implemented by 2013 • Constant evaluation and improvement
