  2. Why An ARB? • Consider long-view – what does MPI need to remain relevant for the future? • Consider big picture – are features proposed for (or already part of) MPI consistent with the MPI? • Recommend – What should the MPI Forum consider?

  3. Purpose • An “Architecture Review Board” provides guidance on the design of the MPI standard • Help the forum work more efficiently • Not a gatekeeper • Provides feedback and advice on features and direction

  4. Activities • ARB will meet at the end of every day during an MPI Forum meeting to review and discuss • May provide feedback at the beginning of each day • Available for review and feedback of proposals

  5. Process • No process set for members yet • One model (similar to society fellows): • MPI Forum Steering Committee appoints initial members • ARB reconsiders membership each year • Not replacing the steering committee
