Zooclub Campaign: Combating Invasive Alien Plants in South Africa

The Zooclub project aims to raise awareness about Invasive Alien Plants (IAP) in South Africa by creating educational posters and promoting actions to manage these plants. Members will also learn about career opportunities in the natural sciences related to IAP control.

  1. Innovative Project Invasive Alien Plants (IAP) Background IAP is a global issue affecting countries in different ways. South Africa is not immune to this issue of IAP. The effective functioning of the ecosystems, pastural and agricultural lands are negatively affected by these IAP in South Africa. ZooClub The focus of the innovative project is to create awareness amongst the ZooClub members, to ensure that ZooClub members are able to display and demonstrate their understanding of IAP by developing and designing posters to engage the visiting public at the zoo and also to participate in the initiatives to control and manage these IAP. Career opportunities The innovative project seek to prepare and provide ZooClub members with information regarding careers opportunities in the natural sciences and particularly in the field of IAP.
