Leaders Must Know *The Voice of God*
Know how to recognize God’s voice Know how to hear from God Know how God speaks Know the many voices clamoring for our attention Know how to stand on what God has spoken to you By the end of this lesson you will…
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:25-28
Ways God Speaks • Written Word (2 Tim. 3:16-17) • Inner Voice/ Holy Spirit (John 16:13) • Prayer (2 Chronicles 7:14) • Angels (Heb.1:14; Heb. 13:2) • Counselors/Pastor/People (2 Peter 1:2; Prov. 15:22) • Circumstances (Jonah) • Dreams (Acts 2:17) • Open and Closed Doors (Jonah) • Visions (Acts 2:17) • Miracles (Mark 16:20) • Audible Voice (Joshua 1:1)
The Many Voices “Me/Self” The voice of self is simply man talking to himself and it is always centered around “I/Me” your own will and desires. The voice of self is a difficult one to determine from God’s voice. Because self makes it’s self convincing. It feels right to our flesh; because remember that self is tied to our Mind/Will/Emotions It responds according to your circumstances and points to the carnal things and not to God. It’s most of the time in a hurry. Another way to tell if we are following the Spirit’s leading is to look for signs of His fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22). If we walk in the Spirit, we will continue to see these qualities grow and mature in us, and they will become evident to others as well.
The Many Voices “Holy Spirit” His voice is convincing, without having to push Himself. He knocks on the door of your heart and asks…, His voice is full of peace and love and never in a hurry. There is rest from His presence. It shall amaze you what He speaks. He gives the honor toJesus. Your heart becomes filled with worship and thankfulness for God. He shows you a specific purpose and shall never forsake to confirm these words also through others. All that He speaks to you comes about. His voice is confirmed and never leads you to confusion. Your faith shall grow.
The Many Voices “Satan/Demons” Satan voice is sometimes actually audible when demons use the vocal cords of another man or woman. Most often, however, Satan speaks in an inaudible voice. He speaks lies, deceit, and sinful thoughts into your mind. When Satan speaks to the mind he always speaks in 1st person as if it’s you actually thinking/speaking. His voice is always hasty, i.e. Do it now, now, now. Not wait to pray but it wants you to move with haste. It does not want you to consult God or others 1st.
The Many Voices “Others” There are many voices in this world clamoring for our attention. (Man, Satan, & Self) The voice of “Man” is easy to recognize. It is the audible voice of another human being: {Acts 5:29} Sometimes the voice of man may give wise advice, but anytime the voice of man conflicts with the voice of God, you must obey GOD.
Be Assured That When God Speaks • It will require faith • It will require courage • It may require you to go against the rationalization of the world in some cases • It will always line up with the word of God • Peace will always rule in your heart • The end result will always be positive, you will gain & not loose
Ways you should not seek to hear God • Occults • False Prophets • Fleece • Methods Chance • Emulations • Wrong Counsel • Self Counsel **when you have not been tried in the area of hearing God
