Why SASID for LEP Census? • Federal and state mandates on reporting academic achievement and improvement in ELA and Math of LEP students receiving or no longer receiving Title III language instruction support; • To merge with other student information systems, e.g. Special Education Census; • To allow LEAs share program information; • To improve data accuracy and efficiency; Rhode Island Department of Education

  6. How to obtain a SASID? • All of the 17,000 existing LEP students have been pre-assigned with SASID; • You will need a SASID record (a student demographic record with SASID) for any ‘new’ student to be enrolled in ELL program; • Two situations – live demo • In most cases, this ‘new’ student is already enrolled in the public school system, therefore, already has a state ID assigned; • In rare cases, this ‘new’ student is truly a new student Rhode Island Department of Education
