Investors in Pupils • Involvement in Investors in Pupils provides excellent evidence of the contribution a school is making to the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and Inclusion • Within AFL, SEAL and ECM there is an emphasis on listening to ‘pupil voice’. • IIPs actively engages pupils in the ownership of the school and their learning.
Each classroom has visible information to include all 5 areas ; • Learning • Behaviour • Induction • Attendance • Classroom management/responsibilities
Why Schools become involved in IiP • Something which can become embedded in good school practice. • Emphasis on valuing all pupils • Reinforces the ethos of our school • Many areas already in place • High expectations of everyone in school • Recognises what we do in school • Developed and refined to meet the needs of our changing population.
IiP should Impact on; Attendance– • Improvedattendance through incentives such as awards for full half term attendance at school Behaviour– • Where schools have fully embraced the principles and practice of initiatives such as IiP, SEAL & have a positive behaviour policy, staff have noticed that there have been noticeable changes/further improvements in pupil behaviour and commitment to learning.
Impact Induction- • Induction books and DVDs help children to feel confident & raise self esteem • transition from Primary-Secondary • new pupils to settle, • new adult helpers, • supply teachers. Classroom management- • helps with economic well-being • spending money wisely • how important it is to look after things in the classroom • looking after each other through the class promise
The 5 key areas of IiP have a positive impact on the personal development & well-being in many ways: Learning- • IiP children become better learners through – • targets, both individual & class, decided by the children, allows them to be involved with their own learning.
Check list In our school do we have; • Commitment from-head, all teaching/support/lunchtime staff, children & Governors (all stakeholders) • IiP on display in every classroom (including EYFS ) • Clear understanding of the Indicators in the IiP handbook • Induction booklets/policy in every classroom • Class vision/mission/promise for every class • Class targets – visual in every class • SMART Individual targets for every child
