Grant writers are those who create research proposals and requests various agencies for funding. Sometimes they work for universities and social service organisations and sometimes in the health care field. They usually work on a contract basis, which helps them to create their own schedules. Sometimes, it may happen that they might work from a remote area/location.
Namely, there are three types of Grant Proposals: Letter of Inquiry (LOI): LOI usually goes to a foundation. It is a way to initiate in the funder a keen interest in your project. It consists of two to three pages that contains the synopsis of the project. It gives a brief idea of the project that an individual is planning. With the LOI an individual and the funder gets an idea whether project is of great interest or not. If it is, then the individual can move on to the full proposal. Full Proposal: a full proposal is what a person think of when they talk about proposals. It includes a standard format that may include a cover letter, i.e. the summary of the project and the total fund required from the funder. This type of proposals usually contains 5-25 pages.
Letter Proposals: corporate sectors always wants a letter proposal rather than a long, formal proposal. This type of proposals may be written for the purpose of sponsorship or cause marketing program to the advertisement department of the corporation.
