  1. Math Corner-Monday John is participating in a bass fishing tournament. In order to advance to the final round, the total weight of the fish he catches must be more than 7 pounds. John caught 5 fish that weighed as follow: 1 lb 6 oz, 13 oz, 1 lb 7 oz,1 lb 4 oz and 11 oz. Can John go on to the final round? Explain your thinking.

  2. Math Corner-Tuesday Sam’s restaurant received 10 kg 500 g of flour. The cook noticed that they needed 25 kg 300 g of flour to make the order of pancakes he just received. How much more flour does he need to complete this order of pancakes?

  3. Math Corner-Wednesday A baby requires 8 ounces of milk at each feeding. If the baby requires 8 feedings a day, how many ounces will the baby eat for the entire day? Explain your thinking.

  5. Math Corner-Friday Heather has 2 friends in Florida whose birthdays are all in November. She wants to send birthday presents to both of them. Because the delivery company cannot send a box heavier than 5 kg, she had to weigh the three presents she bought. Their weights were 2 kg 500 g, 2 kg 800 g. Can she put both presents in one box?
