Welcome to Class 1 at North and South Cowton Community Primary School! Our dedicated staff, led by Miss Cheesbrough, provide a stimulating and supportive environment for children to learn and grow. From the EYFS Profile to the characteristics of effective learning, we prioritize holistic development. Our curriculum includes Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED), Physical Development, Communication and Language Development (CLD), Literacy, Mathematics, Expressive Arts and Design, and Knowledge and Understanding of the World.   3. The EYFS Profile? The EYFS Profile summarises and describes children’s attainment at the end of EYFS. It is based on ongoing observation and assessment in 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas, and 3 characteristics of effective learning Moderation with Pre-Schools Show I – Pad

  4. Characteristics of Effective Learning • The characteristics of effective learning underpin all seven areas of development. They are • Playing and exploring • Active learning • Creating and thinking critically

  5. PSEDPersonal, Social and Emotional Development Making friends Learning rules Learning daily routines Learning about other cultures and respect Understanding boundaries Making relationships with adults

  6. PSED - How can you help? You can help by encouraging your child to use the toilet independently, wash their hands, put on and fasten their coats. Playing games which encourage sharing and turn taking will help your child to build their social skills.

  8. Physical Development – How can you help? Give children time to run, jump, climb and play outdoors Encourage children in activities such as building, drawing, threading beads,or filling and emptying containers in the water – all of which develop manipulative skills.
