  2. Mission Statement • To raise awareness of sustainability, address environmental issues, promote teamwork within our community, and minimize our ecological footprint so future generations can enjoy our blue planet.

Our Organization so Far • As of this year the BHS Environmental club has: • Built it’s own shed for storing tools, compost, garden supplies, etc. • Promoted a campus wide recycling effort. • Performed several hours of community service. • Encourage youth participation in pro-environmental efforts.

Environmental Club 2014 -2015 • Goals for 2014-2015: • Complete Shed (siding and painting) • Install garden beds and flower beds • Plan for spring and summer harvest • Install rainwater reclamation system • Complete Composting area • Complete Recycling Station • Plan for alternative Energy system (solar and wind) • Plan for pond construction

Water Quality and Conservation efforts • We appreciate the beauty and importance of our great water resources here in north Texas. • That’s why we focus on keeping Willow Creek Park as clean as we can since it feeds into the Trinity River. • With the installation of our rain reclamation system we can help demonstrate water conservation practices which will help reduce the dependence on city water for things like irrigation. • Try to model good waste management practices which help to reduce water pollutants by putting appropriate wastes where they belong.
