Pratical Lecture 1

Pratical Lecture 1. Properties of Fluids, dimensions and units. Mass and Force. What is the mass that weights 1kg?. Using Force in kg (Gravitational Units System or MKpS ) one obtains the mass in this units system, i.e. UMM. The units in this system are equal or 9.8 times the SI units:.

  1. Pratical Lecture 1 Properties of Fluids, dimensions and units

  2. Mass and Force • What is the mass that weights 1kg? • Using Force in kg (Gravitational Units System or MKpS) one obtains the mass in this units system, i.e. UMM. The units in this system are equal or 9.8 times the SI units: • On SI units system the mass that weights 1 kg is 1 kg.

  3. The formula is dimensionally homogeneous!!

  4. Resolution P1.14

  5. Resolution of Problem P1.18

  6. Resolution of problem P1.45 Zero acceleration means forces balanced. weight and friction must balance For the same h, the bigger is viscosity the lower the velocity will be. But if we place oil below the block it will slip faster. Is there a contradiction? No. The oil will increase “h”…. If h is zero there is “solid friction” andvelocity is zero

  7. Pressure Units Compute normal atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg) in bar, kg/cm2and psi. In bar In kg/cm2

  8. In psi • Atm=14.69psi • 1bar=14.2psi
