Purpose of the Grant • Primary Goal: • To bridge the gap between illness and health in an innovative and artistic way. • Example: 2010 awardees • A Brooklyn dance class networked the benefits of dance to improve the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. • Primary Requirements: • Nationwide in 3 years • Influence a culture

  5. Chronic Illnesses In Cherokee County • Diabetes 10.2% • Substance Abuse 14.6% • Overall Fitness 37% • Mental • Physical • Cancer 10-66% • Heart Disease 19.8% • STD’s 8.2%

  6. Network Resources • University & Tribal Communities • Awareness for ALL Healthcare Programs • Gain Local and Corporate Funding

  7. Clinics in a 3-mile Radius • 61 clinics and or businesses • Dentists • Chiropractors • Optometrist • Traditional and Holistic Methods in Healthcare • Smoking cessations classes • Diabetes prevention • Substance abuse

  8. Collaborate and Network • Reduce Workload • Decrease Budget Constraints • Increase Collaboration efforts • Boost awareness of businesses and organizations

  9. The Platform • Advertisement techniques and methods • Print • Broadcast • Social media • Increase our Reach and Circulation • Tahlequah 2020 strategic plan
