Foundations for Success • Setting up a notebook • Deciding where to “sit” • Seeing you write everyday! • Teaching “How to know what to pick…” • Use Read Aloud to get them “thinking” • Brainstorm “what” and “how” to write • Appropriate Word Choice (Word Wall, Notebook Dictionary, etc.) • Teach spelling and mechanics through reading • MODELand practice the behaviors you want kids to have.
