Current problems • FLAGs – currently all events marked bad • All frames are marked as ‘extended’ because not enough time to read a frame while next one is looking at the sky (need 500ms?) • E3/E4 background determination problematic • Bad pixels need remapping onto 203x201 grid ? • Pattern 0 only - but need to calculate pattern fractions • Position errors of a few arc minutes EPIC cal, Mallorca MOS 3x3 slew survey

2XMM – coming soon • ~3000 observations • ~150,000 sources – largest X-ray catalogue ever • Similar flux limits to 1XMM • Finds extended sources • Release planned for 2006 – possible pre-release in Sept. • Bright sources (>500 counts) will have associated spectra and time series.
