  3. Direct Objects A direct object tells WHO or WHAT receives the action of the verb. In other words, WHO or WHAT is being verbed.

  4. Direct Object Pronouns To avoid repeating a direct object noun, you can REPLACE it with a direct object pronoun. Instead of saying, “I want that skirt(skirt is direct object),” you can say, “I want it.” (it is direct object pronoun). The word “it” takes the place of the word “skirt.”

  5. Direct Object Pronouns Direct object pronounstake the place of the direct object noun in a sentence. To find the D.O.go to the verb and ask What?(or who?)

  9. Placement of Direct Object Pronouns Direct Object Pronouns, me, te, lo, la, os, nos, los and las are placed either : before a conjugated verb orattached to the end of an infinitive verb.

  10. Before the Conjugated Verb: ¿Cuándocomprasla camisanueva? Lacomprocuandotengodinero. ¿Tienesel pasaporte? Sí, lotengo

  11. Before the Conjugated Verb Isabel, ¿tienesmi itinerario? Do you have my itinerary? No, no lotengo. No I don’t have it. • ¿Compraslos boletos? • Are you buying the tickets? • No, no loscompro. • No, I’m not buying them.

  12. When there are two verbs in a sentence, you have two choices for placement of the direct object pronoun:Before the conjugated verb or after the infinitive: Q: ¿ Quierescomprarel traje de baño? Do you want to buy the bathing suit? A: Before the verb: Sí, loquierocomprar. (Yes, I want to buy it) A: After the infinitive: Sí, quierocomprarlo. (Yes, I want to buy it)

  13. Direct Object Pronouns When the pronoun replaces both a masculine and a feminine direct object noun, we use los. • ¿Cuándocomprasla maletay el boleto? • Loscompro el sábado.

  14. Práctica del paquete: • Veo la televisióncadanoche. • Ustedestienen los boletos. • Elloshacenlasmaletas. • Buscamos a los amigos. • La veo cada noche. • Los tienen. • Las hacen. • Los buscamos.
