Proclamation of 1763 • A war in which the French and Native Americans fought British soldiers and American militia from 1753-1759. • British law that prevented colonists from settling west of the Appalachians.

  4. 2. The Sugar Act 3. The Quartering Act 4. The Stamp Act • Britain placed a tax on items such as wine, silk, and molasses. • Law that required colonists to feed and shelter British troops. • Law that stated colonists had to pay for stamps printed on taxable paper items.

Five colonists were left dead or severely wounded.

Intolerable Acts • On December 16, 1773 colonists in Boston dressed as Native Americans boarded British tea ships and dumped more than 300 chests of tea in the water. • Parliament sealed off the Boston Harbor until the colonists paid for the damages from the Boston Tea Party.
