What is “Environmental Scanning”? • Environmental scanning is a process that collects information on trends and priorities that are impacting or influencing the HIM profession. • This information can: • Feed into the strategic planning process. • Identify emerging opportunities, threats or concerns and adjust plans in a timely manner • Capitalize on opportunities or avert threats

  21. Environmental Scanning As HIM leaders, we all have an opportunity to influence the profession. Proper environmental scanning can help us strategize, prepare, and plan for what lies ahead in the HIM profession.
