    2. Preparing Students for the SAT Read something of significance daily – preferably non-fiction Read something rich and dense in text Teach students the educational lingo -- for example – Marzano’s books on academic vocabulary Deal with complex texts of fiction

    3. Preparing Students for the SAT Improve vocabulary Develop problem-solving abilities Strengthen writing skills – students are writing whether they are thinking or not Learn general logistics of the test

    4. Vocabulary Choose words from any source that are SAT words apstrategies.org provides lists to accompany numerous novels as well as generic SAT lists Best practices require that students “own their words” – that they use their words and record their interaction with them.
