Completed Project “Extending Internet into Space (Phase I)” • Project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) • Objective: • To build a space-suitable set of Internetworking protocols to allow efficient communications and application diversity. • Protocols Developed • DS-TP: Deep Space Transport Protocol • DTTP: Delay Tolerant Transport Protocol
Current Projects “Extending Internet into Space (Phase II): ESA/ESOC DTN/IP Testbed Implementation and Evaluation” • Project funded by the ESA • Objective: • The design of an appropriate DTN/IP Space-Ground testbed and associated scenarios for evaluation, mainly targeting Mars communications. • Participants: • Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) • Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI)
Current Projects “Distributed Information Storage and Communication in Outer Space (DISCOS)” • Project funded by ESA • Call under the Greece Industry Incentive Scheme • Objective • Assess the security requirements for DTN, propose a security architecture to satisfy them, implement the security mechanisms in a testbed and evaluate their system performance. • Participants • Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) • Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) • Industrial Systems Institute (ISI)
