Notto do ED consults Subspecialty Closed Inform ED that medicine is capped. No discussion.2 Ask ED to page Med staff on call with questions.2 Text page all attending staff (Gen med/specialty/ER) to notify; ask specialty how many Gen med pts they are willing to accept. Rotate Gen med admits to specialty services up to numbers they specify. When full, notify all attending staff. 2 Page Chief Chief calls back-up Stat ED consults are to be done by the MOD and checked out to staff. These consults count as encounters. Once the MOD has 10 encounters the back-up will be called in, though not to do ED consults. Once the MOD is at 10 encounters, future ED consults will be performed by on-call medicine staff. Communications with ED staff about our caps should be very matter of fact and respectful. Do not discuss our caps. Simply inform the staff that medicine is capped and inform them what their next course of action is.
