Background • Peer Network formed in 2004 • A strategic alliance: • Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties (AAMD&C) • Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) • Alberta Municipal Affairs (AMA) • Alberta Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association (ARMAA) • Local Government Administration Association (LGAA)

  3. Who are Peer Mentors? • Elected officials and senior municipal administrators • Highly experienced • Selected from each of the associations • Volunteers • Trained in coaching, communication, facilitation and dispute resolution – kept up-to-date with best practices

  4. What can Peer Mentors help me with? • Interpersonal • Governance • Service provision • Public issues • Roles and responsibilities • And many more…

How does it work? • Its confidential • You initiate direct contact with a mentor through the phone or in person • You use the mentor’s experience and training to help resolve issues • Issues most often resolved through phone conversations • The mentor is only another phone call away for follow up or advice
