Views from the past 10 years:Strengths of education in Taiwan • Good solid foundations in elementary and high school(characteristics, personality, moral..) • Fair and equal opportunity for every kid of diverse background (Equality + Justice) • Well prepared in basic 3R+S skills (to meet parent needs) • Stable in educational surroundings (teacher involvements; government support; administrative efficiency; or even unions)
Views from the past 10 years:Weaknesses of education in Taiwan • Fixed and uniform curriculum (low diversity) • Practice and drills of reflexive learning (or test) skills • Inability to express verbally and in writing • Lack of creativity training • Lack of aggressiveness • Less emphasis on the synthesizing ability • Poor in international communication (e.g. English) skills
