  1. Let’s play football! Lesson 6

  2. Starter • What will this program do? • Open EDBOTBlank.sb2 and save it as Keyboard.sb2. • Create the program as shown.

  3. All of you will: Plan the actions needed to help Edbot play football. Most of you will: Create a program which will allow Edbot to play football. Some of you will: Amend and update your program as needed. Objective of the lesson Control Edbot in “real-time” by creating a program allowing keyboard control

  4. You are going to allow Edbot to play a game of football. You will need to plan the movements that you want Edbot to perform and assign them keyboard keys to allow you to run that block of code.

  5. Plan your movements Moving around the pitch • In pairs, list all motions you think you would need Edbot to perform to play football. • Have a look at Scratch to get ideas if you are not sure what motions there are. Kicking the ball Goal celebrations Acting in goal

  6. Using the keyboard to control Edbot • For each action write a suitable keyboard key you would like to press to run that action. For instance: • Walk forward (up arrow) • Walk backwards (down arrow)

  7. Create your program • Open the L6_Football.sb2 project. • This program has been started for you but you need to complete the program, adding all of the commands you think you will need to play a football match. • Don’t forget to add an option to “get up” in case Edbot falls over during the football match.

  8. Self-assessment Read the highlighted points and tick those that you feel you have achieved.
