To start off , white lions are not albino , white lions do not lack pigments in the eyes and other facial areas.
The outstanding rare white coloration occurs from a recessive gene called • color inhibitor. It’s a mutation.
The white lion varies greatly in color from blonde and white to red. Don’t let this confuse you the white lion is NOT a separate subspecies of the lion (Panthera Leo)
White lions only exist in captivity. White lions cant go back into the wild because of there color. When they are hunting there prey will usually Spot them.
Unfortunately, there amazingly rare coloration makes them felines of value, as they are even rarer than white tigers. • Therefore, hunters breed them for canned hunts.
The white lion is a really fascinating and gorgeous animal and as we continue to learn about them they could still be alive in 2020.
