AFSP advocated for MH Parity, passed in October 2008 • Seeks to eliminate discriminatory access to mental health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) benefits • Plans subject to federal parity law precluded from offering MH and SUD benefits in a more restrictive way than other covered medical and surgical benefits • Incorporated into ACA, final rules issued November 2013
