Ambesleep vs. Placebo By: Antonio Lapinski Ed Felix Jacinta Fresco Chelsea Klausefelder
The Experiment: In this experiment , we will be testing the affects of the top natural sleeping pill, Ambesleep, in contrast to the affects of the placebo, Vitamin-C. Our experiment will consist of 5,000 test subjects throughout the United States ranging from age 40 to 60.
Blinding • Blinding occurs when the subject is unaware that he or she is receiving Ambesleep or merely the Vitamin C pill.
Blocking • The age group of the subject could potentially affect the outcome of the experiment due to: • More than half of people older than 64 years have a sleep disorder. • The gender of the person could also affect the outcome of the experiment • Among older people, women are more likely to have insomnia than men.
Placebo & Placebo Effect • The placebo is the fake (Vitamin C) that certain subjects of the experiment will be given. • The placebo effect is the subject’s naiveté that the placebo ,although not knowing is a placebo, actually worked for them.
Replication • This experiment will take place over a duration of four years.
Confounding • With confounding, there will be some confusion in the experiment due to the subject’s daily routine. • While taking the sleeping pill the subject could have ingested a caffeinated beverage.
