Objective • To demonstrate inexpensive and easy-to-use software programs that will help faculty and technology personnel to learn new ways to add content driven pizzazz to standard on-line courses. StudyMate by Respondus • Cost: $79 • (Academic pricing through www.respondus.com) • Uses: • Create ten Flash-based activities and games and easily upload them to a website or WebCT/Blackboard course. • Allows you to import items from MS Word files and publisher test banks, making it easy to create interesting, interactive activities from existing content. • Does not require programming knowledge. • Demo:
Impatica for PowerPoint • Cost: $499 (Free trial available) • http://www.impatica.com/ • Uses: • Lets you deliver fully narrated and animated PowerPoint presentations to pretty much any Internet device without plug-ins. • It converts the PowerPoint file into a compressed format that is optimized for streaming over the Internet. SoftChalk Lessonbuilder • Cost: $450 (Educational Version)www.softchalk.com • Uses: Creates professional interactive web pages that include pop-up text annotations, self-assessment quizzes, and interactive learning games.
