Why is Active Participation Important? • It requires more involvement of the brain • Provides teachers the opportunity to assess the learning.
How Can We Promote Active Participation? • Eyes on speaker • Provide students with a prompt prior to partner talk • Allow THINK time • Drop and listen • Call on individuals to share • Confirm responses • Limit teacher talk • Give more turns (This is what it is all about)
