TECTONIC STUDIES INTURKEY USINGCORS-TR OBSERVATIONS (EGU2011- 5439) Kamil Eren1, Turgut Uzel1, Engin Gulal2, Ibrahim Tiryakioglu3, Ahmet Anil Dindar1, Haluk Yilmaz1 1 Istanbul Kultur University, İstanbul / Turkey, 2 Yildiz Technical University, İstanbul /Turkey, 3 Kocatepe University, Afyon / Turkey TECTONIC PLATE MOVEMENTS IN TURKEY AND VICINITY CORS-TR STATIONS 147 CORS ROOF AND GROUND STATIONS AT A SPACING OF 80-100 KM WERE ESTABLISHED IN TURKEY AND NORTHERN CYPRUS DURING AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FUNDED BY THE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF TURKEY (TUBITAK) BETWEEN 2006-2009. CORS-TR IS OPERATIONAL SINCE OCTOBER 2008. GAMIT/GLOBK HAS BEEN USED IN THE PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS OF CORS-TR DATA. VELOCITY MAP OF CORS-TR STATIONS (EURASIA FIXED) VELOCITY MAP OF CORS-TR STATIONS (ANATOLIA FIXED) WEEXHIBIT HERE THE VERSATILITY OF THE SPACE BASED MONITORING SYSTEMS USING CORS AND THEIR IMMEDIATE USEIN TURKEY WHERE THE ACTIVE FAULT LINES AND SURFACE DEFORMATIONS (SUBSIDENCE) EXIST. THE DATACOLLECTED DURING NOVEMBER 2009 – FEBRUARY 2011 HAS BEEN PROCESSED USING THE GAMIT/GLOBK PROGRAM. THE INITIAL RESULTS USING THE DATA COLLECTED DURING THE FIRST 11 MONTHS OF 2010INDICATE THAT THE MAXIMUM DISPLACEMENT IS ESTIMATED AS 19.9 MM/YEAR (SOUTHWEST DIRECTION)AND 23.2 MM/YEAR (NORTHWEST DIRECTION) AT FINI AND UDER STATIONS, RESPECTIVELY. FINI ISLOCATED IN ANTALYA (SOUTHERN TURKEY), WHEREAS UDER IS LOCATED IN ERZURUM (NORTH EASTERNTURKEY). KEEPING IN MIND THAT SEVERAL RESEARCHERS HAVE COMMENTED THAT THE ANATOLIANPLATE HAS A SLIP RATE OF 24 MM/YEAR AFTER STUDYING MANY YEARS OF DATA, THE GOOD RESULTS FROMONLY 11 MONTHS OF CORS-TR DATA SHOW THE RELIABILITY, STABILITY ANDEFFECTIVENESS OF SUCH A YOUNG NETWORK.
