Education • Nikola Tesla enrolled into the Great Royal High School in 1870. • In the school year 1870/71 he attended the fourth grade as a fourteen – year – old student. • In the 1871/72 he attended the sixth grade and in 1872/73 the seventh one. • After the fourth grade Tesla was immediately enrolled into the sixth one because the school established one more grade - the seventh. So, an extra class was put between three lower and three upper classes. Nikola Tesla during his education
Minutes of the teachers´ assembly Among the preserved documents there are the Minutes no. 10 of the teachers´ assembly, held on February 11,1873 that contain the names of praised and reprimanded students in the classes. Nikola Tesla was praised for his activity in history class, and reprimanded because of his bad mark in mathematics. The mark was corrected by the end of the year and was probably the result of Tesla´s absence from school due to his longer illness. In the final Matura certificate, there can be seen that Nikola Tesla had an excellent mark in mathematics.

Tesla in Karlovac – teacher Sekulić´s influence • The Realschule in Karlovac was preparing students for technical studies • The interest for physics was inspired by the high – school teacher Martin Sekulić • Martin Sekulić (1833-1905) – the teacher of mathematics and physics • Studied and experimented with electricity and magnetism • In 1880 / 81 there were 227 apparatus and devices in the physical laboratory
Tesla´s inventions • 112 patents and electotechnical machines, transformers, high frequency turbines, steam turbines… • 73 articles in different magazines • 39 000 documents with technical and scientific contents • 29 diplomas and awards by different universities, academies and societies
Gimnazija´s Teaching Aids The collection of the teaching aids was included on the list of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Croatia due to its great historical importance and technical value.
The collection contains 36 objects which were used for school experiments in the field of optics, mechanics, accousstics, thermodynamics, electrostatics and electrodynamics.
Teaching aids were produced in the period from 1870s until the first half of the 20th century in the specialised factories for production of laboratory instruments.
