  4. Absenteeism and Tardiness It is very important that students attend school and arrive on time unless they are sick. If your student is absent from school please send in a note explaining why your child was absent on the day of their return. If you/your child arrive at school after 7:45, you will need to walk in with them to sign in at the office. Please, no check outs after 1:45!

  5. Our discipline plan is designed to give each student the opportunity to manage their own behavior on a daily basis. We use a color system to help students keep track of their behavior: Please see your child’s teacher for more details.

  6. Check Folders Daily Any notes, forms, money, etc. should be placed in your child’s folder. Please remind your child not to take anything out of the folder and allow the teacher to be the one who removes items. Please return any forms/paperwork promptly to your child’s teacher.

  7. If you need to change your child’s dismissal procedure for one day, please send a note to your child’s teacher in the daily folder. DO NOT send an email as the only form of communication. We MUST have written correspondence from you. Unless it is an emergency, all changes should be made in the morning. This ensures proper notification and safety of your child’s dismissal. Remember, no checkout after 1:45! Transportation Guidelines

Reading/Language Arts Recognize and write all capital and lower case letters and know sounds of letters, including short vowels Know colors and color words Recognize and write first and last name Know rhyming words Know opposites Know sight words on Dolce List A: Sight Word Folders Successfully complete all levels of Scott Foresman Reading Street Series

  9. Reading continued: Answer detailed questions about a story read orally Sequence stories Tell the main idea Make predictions Express ideas orally Write a creative story with 2-3 sentences Blend 3 and 4 letter words Reads simple sentences and stories with expression

  10. Math Recognize and write numbers 1-20 Count objects and sets to 30 Rote count to 100 Recognize number words to ten Know left and right Know coins names and values Sort objects by color, shape, and size Say the months of the year, days of the week, and the four seasons

  11. Math continued: Add and subtract to 10 using manipulatives Know ordinal numbers to 10 Know the names of plane and solid figures Make comparisons using size, amount, and length Extend and create patterns Interpret bar graphs Know positional words Know time periods (yesterday, today, tomorrow) Recognize whole and half Know and use calendar skills Be able to use information on charts displayed in the classroom

  12. Science Observing and analyzing data, using tools to observe and measure, properties of matter (sorting by shape, size, color, and texture), gravity and motion, day and night sky, living and non-living things (including plants and animals), and rocks and soil.

  13. Social Studies • We will be learning about the following topics: National holidays, American symbols, good citizenship, community helpers, currency used to purchase goods and services, needs and wants, families and communities, and maps and globes.

  14. Report Cards: GKIDS • In Kindergarten, we use a standards-based report card called G-KIDS. • Certain areas are assessed during the year • Report cards will come home quarterly

  15. Grades are as follows: NA Not Assessed ND Not Demonstrated EM Emerging PR Progressing MS Meets Standard EX Exceeds When you receive report cards, keep the paper copy, sign and return the green folder as well as the envelope!

  17. Lunch Breakfast: $1.25 Lunch: $2.00 You may prepay for your child’s lunches by sending in money weekly or monthly. Please do this by putting the money in a sealed envelope with their name and ID number on it. You may also use MealPayPlus.com to establish an online account to pay for your child’s lunch. Breakfast is also available, please be at school by 7:25 a.m.

  18. Specials P.E.,Art, and Music: these teachers will be available after our presentation, if you would like more details! Tennis shoes required for P.E.! Girls wearing dresses should wear shorts under their dress for P.E. and the playground.
