  1. God-focused SELF-Control • Controlling our Anger • Everything that makes us angry is something we must trust God about. • Controlling our Addictions • Everything that controls us is an emptiness only God can fill.

  2. The Fool The WISE I don’t have to react to resolve this personal injustice • I must react to resolve this personal injustice Do I trust God with what is making me angry? • (1 Peter 3:9) Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

  3. Patience – The wisdom of Being slow • (Proverbs 14:29) A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. • (Proverbs 12:16) A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. • (Proverbs 20:3) It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.

  4. Getting Rid of Anger • (Ephesians 4:31-5:1) Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. {32} Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. {5:1} Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children

  5. Filling our Emptiness • Everything that controls us is an emptiness only God can fill. • (Psalms 42:2) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. • (Hebrews 13:5) Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." • (Psalms 63:1-3) O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. … {3} Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

  6. Not controlled by Anything • (1 Corinthians 6:11-12) And that is what some of you were [greedy, drunkards, etc.]. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. {12} "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.

  7. Self-ControlThe Spirit’s Power, My Choice • (Galatians 5:22-23) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, {23} gentleness and self-control. • THE SPIRIT –I MUST DEPEND ON GOD • ME –I MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY • (Galatians 5:16) So I say, live by [walk in] the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
